Help Date/Time reset after Power Off

kudy

Lurker
Has anyone else had a problem where they power down the eee for 24 hours, power it back on and the date/time have been reset to 2008?

I am not using date/time from the network, but rather setting it myself.

If the devices are off (this is happening on 2 of them) for only a short period of time then the date/time stays set where I put it, but over night it loses it.

Thanks for any tips/help anyone can provide!

I Don't think this is normal- mine isn't on the network very often. But I haven't left it turned off for 24hrs since I got it last May either. :)

Is your firmware updated?

I'm facing the same problem. I set manually the time/date and after I power it off and power it back on, it resets the date to 19:00 31 Dec 2008. This happens even with a short time between power off and power on. I did a reset to factory defaults but didn't help. I searched through various sites but it doesn't seem to be a common issue, I'm thinking of returning it to BB. Any other ideas will be very helpful.

Thanks.

I doubt it'd be considered normal behavior... I am just hoping that it's software and not a motherboard battery that's gone bad or something.

The firmware has updated twice, I think it's 3.2.1 now on both. I doubt they will be turned off much after they are given to their recipients (Christmas gifts), but I don't want them to have to send them in for exchange or repair after they get them.

Both of mine reset to the same date/time as Soth. I don't use the network, because wireless routers often are configured to the wrong date (not adjusted for time zone) and as you move about, the time will be changing based on the router you are connected to - just seemed easier to manually set it once, and know that it is right.

Looking at mine, it's NOT on automatic time. I've never left it off more than 12hrs but I've never lost the time/date either.

I'm pretty sure that this is not normal, since anywhere I looked is not mentioned.

Out of curiosity, Kudy were your 2 transformers bought on BF from BB? I'm asking because mine is the TF101-X1 model.

AutobahnSHO can you tell us what is the longest period you left it off?

I turn it off a few times per week- I plug it in to charge at night then turn it off, it keeps charging.

I've owned it since mid-May 2011, its' been off maybe 12hrs one time??

Thanks Autobahn for you response.

I exchanged mine with another unit and the last couple of days I haven't had this issue.Hopefully the new unit won't reproduce this.

They were not purchased from BB, but from Toys R Us. They've been given to their recipients, but I believe there are continued date/time problems.
