Help Day one thoughts: sd card

So it seems to me it doesn't make sense to get an sd card if there's one built in albeit 4gb. O and I noticed it doesn't play nice with my partitioned sd cards from my Optimus m. What steps would I take in cw recovery to get the sd back to out of box

I used MiniTool to unpartition my 8gig from my Ascend. I only use the external sd card to store music on. Everything else I put on internal
