Android Question

My boyfriend just acquired an android phone with a 2G no contract service plan with t mobile. He went to plug the charger into it and quickly realized he had the wrong charger and pulled it back out. Then he got the right charger and left the phone charge for several hours. But, the phone would never turn back on. He placed the battery in another phone and it's fully charged. He had a friend take a look at it and his friend said that the resister may be burned out. I don't know what any of this means, but he's unable to check it out on his own at this point in time and I promised that I would see what I could do. I think the phone is a Motorola. Any help would be so appreciated.
