Help Dead Phone

cmumph

Lurker
I was informed by the Sprint rep that my Galaxy S2 has water damage and that the motherboard is corroded. After doubts about her conclusions, I took it to a tech rep here in my city. They told me there was no sign of corrosion on the motherboard. I could care less about the phone working or not because I have a upgrade in a few weeks, but have data on the (phone memory) that i would like to retrieve. Is there anyway of doing this?

'The Situation'

1. Phone does not Power on
2. Blue indicator light is on when connected to charger
3. Phone can not be found by PC
4. Have a new battery
5. Have a new USB cord
6. Can't reset the phone.

Does anyone know where the memory chip on the motherboard is and can it be removed safely without corrupting the stored data?

I can take the charger off the phone and attempt to turn it on. The blue indicator light will apear, but thats how far it will go. No display on the screen, the bottom buttons dont light up either. Is the phone a brick and even more important is my data stored on the phone retrievable? if so how

I know I should have backed it up... Lesson learned Okay...
I have newborn photos on there..

Please Help!!!!!

Did you ever use Google + for instant upload by any chance? Drop box? I've lost newborn pics never a good thing.

No i never used it. I know I should have, but I was being to lazy to do it. Have you heard of any techniques in retrieving the data from a dead phone?

I have never been able to do it but maybe someone on here may know of a way. I'm sorry to hear your phone won't come on. If there was no SD card, just to be safe I would check your gmail for any type of upload. Google use to use picasa that was automatic and now its integrated with g+. It maybe worth looking into to see if any are there. Last resort maybe a store can move over via cellbrite to another phone so you can save

Hate to say it, but it sounds like your phone is now a fancy paperweight (aka:bricked). I would google search bricked phone data recovery and see what you can find. Reason like yours are why I suggest leaving the G+ auto-backup on to everyone I know.
