I have used 2GB of data already, with 8 days left in my billing month.

Yes, some of us really do go over that magical 2GB mark.

And yes, I do use WiFi at home and all day at work.

This is why I'm a Sprint customer.

Who's with me? :D
 
I download movies when I am not at home thru 4g. I used between 4 and 5 gigs this month. That's not using the wifi tether but downloading them directly to my storage card
 
I've had my evo 1 week... used about 1gb of data. (Actually even more, cuz the past few days I've been using WiFi more and more around the house) Thank God for Sprints all inclusive plans.
 
i used over 5GBs in just over three weeks, got my phone on the 5th, bill ended the 27th. All on 3g, no 4g here yet :(
 
Downloading roms itself for new ones are like 180mb each. Im 8 days in and I'm at 1.5gb. No tethering yyet
 
I've had my phone since the 4th and I've used 4.8GB. Most of it is watching the World Cup and streaming Pandora and Podcast at work. No Wifi at work. Also, I've used 600MB on Wifi.

Currently using NetCounter to track how much data I've used.

I had 2 gigs covered inside 2 weeks!

Currently at 3.3 Gigs with 24 megs roaming as I come up on my Month here.

I'm using less data as I go on because I refuse to carry my only charger with me to work so I'm no longer streaming Pandora all day long at my desk off of 3G.

I did recently add the Slingbox app but I get crap signal at work so I haven't been able to use it too much.

Also, in an effort to save battery and improve performance at one I'm using wifi at home now..

Not using wifi (traveling) I'm sure I'd blow through 5 Gigs/mo with ease.

for contrast, my Fiance's phone (which is usually at home) has used 170 Megs

Oh and between the both of us we've used 17 of our 1500 anytime minutes - lol.

Many of us do a lot more than check email and web browse. Download music, stream media, download roms, list goes on. It's super easy to use 2 gb of data if you actually take advantage of what the net offers :)

I upload and download DVD ISOs and VMs all day long, so I know what you mean - just not from my phone. Err, not from my phone unless I am running, say, Wyse VDI client connecting over my VPN to my vCenter infrastructure and moving things remotely... :cool:
 
one reason for my data use is that some apps do not seem to work properly with WiFi - for example, I had to turn off WiFi today to get Google Listen to work properly and stream some podcasts
 
I use 4-6 gb per month on 3g, and this is with using wifi at home.

My theory is att lumped in all the dumbphone users who use little or no data at all, and skewed the results completely. In fact, if they didn't do this, I would fient in shock.

On average i use about 6.5 gigs a month. I have actually recieved a few domestic data notices in the past from at&t asking me to lower my data usage or else they would charge me additional charges per mb or/and allow me to cancel without etf. I need at&t, so at this point they have allowed me for me not to have any additional fees, if i dont use over 8gb. Btw i have an unlimted data bundle lol.
 
The real question is how long they will keep grandfathering people with unlimited data when you get a new phone. My guess is they will stop at the end of the year.

No it is still there but I am sure it will not be for long. Like the other poster said I would think end of the year. Since Verizon has said they will go to a tiered data with LTE they can have some cover in doing it as well at that time.
 
I think your all wrong.

I work for at&t mobility and we still grandfather people on old cingular data plans. Its unlawful for a company to proactively change a plan like that. Its just not gonna happen.

But they can require a new plan for a new phone, I.e. iP4, iP5, android smartphones, etc.

So in short, your wrong, it happens every day.

And in fact, it is not unlawful to charge new rates. Once that service contract is over, they can legally charge you $999999999.99+ a month for data should they choose to, with proper notice being given. Once your off contract, they can indeed fluctuate rates at will, and there is nothing illegal about it.

-just because they don't do it, doesn't mean they can't. And something tells me with att's poor backhaul and network woes in general due to lack of investment, my belief is they will aggresively pursue this new bandwidth cap.

For new customers.

Existing customers had the option to keep their unlimited data plans. This being said, they REALLY try to talk you into one of the new plans.

Should they choose to, they can do this to old customers to. Read my last post, I added a bit.
