Help Debranding question

When you debrand your phone, do you have to back up everything? will anything be erased? or is it just the deleting/ swapping of the update files?

when you de-brand a phone your replacing the existing branded firmware with a unbranded generic firmware thus wiping every thing from the phone.
best make a full backup first.

I would like to know how to backup my Rogers firmware just in case. Does anyone have a tutorial-for-dummies, I'm sure it's as easy as downloading an app and running it, but I want to be on the safe side here...
