December Update

what do you mean you are unable to get the update? it will not download or install? error? or the phone does not show that an update is available? who is your carrier?

Apparently it was released quite late this month for Pixels: I saw a post on one of the tech sites the other day saying it had just dropped, so it may not have made it to you yet.

This was just Pixels, Samsung released it promptly. I think there was some sort of feature drop for at least some models, which might have delayed it.

Google owns Android..Google is my carrier..I assumed that when the Pixel updates for 6 we're released...and finally for the 6 Pro on Dec 13, I figured Google Fi, Pixel 6 Pro, would get the updates prior to other carriers...running Pixel phones...

Most Pixels are sold unlocked so get their updates direct from Google without going through the carrier, so I don't think there is any special status to being a Fi customer in this respect.

Generally updates are rolled out in batches (release a few, see whether any problems are reported, then start rolling out further). For the last few years with my Pixel 2 pressing the "check for updates" button once the update had been released would usually give it to me, but given that this update was delayed for unknown reasons it is possible that they might be rolling it out more cautiously: we don't know, and for certain Google won't say.

you can't force an update that's not available for your phone yet. your carrier, when it is ready, will send the update to your phone at some point. you just have to be patient.
Yes, many users can't wait for the official update and try to install from 3rd party websites and other patches so they end up with a non-warranty device and there will be a less resale value.

But again that is not possible. Updates are VERY device specific. If it is not out officially and you flash the wrong update that's not made for your phone, you'll end up more than just a non warranty device...... you'll end up with a brick!!!!!!

That's right, also the device will be tested for new updates if it is capable then it'll get the update. If not we can root the phone but the device gets slower which I hate the most!
