I'm not sure how widespread this is, but apparently there's an issue with Jelly Bean and default apps. Only certain apps, though. It's on the Swiftkey forums, and various other forums on the web.
In my experience, Swiftkey and Launchers do not stay as default. Chrome, YouTube, and the Play Store do stay as default actions for their respective abilities.
The issue: Setting Swiftkey, for example, as the default keyboard application will work fine until you restart your device. At this point, Samsung keyboard will be set to default again.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? It started off as a nuisance, but now it's a huge problem. I can't believe there is such a fundamental bug in JB, it's very disappointing for me - a recent iOS escapee.
Oh, another interesting glitch - absolutely no backup applications work on my phone. They all error with 'permission denied'. I can't help but think these two things are linked.
Any advice/guidance hugely appreciated. I've done a factory reset and would prefer not to do another one since it takes hours to get back to where I was before on Android. The lack of a single backup of an entire device is another thing Google seriously needs to address.
Device: I9300, SIM-free, UK, Samsung S3.
