Help Default Send account (Gmail app)

Newbie
Hey,

I've got 3 accounts on my phone: Corporate (Exchange), Google, and Sky Email. I have Gmail sync OFF for the Google account as I don't use it for that.

If I'm viewing my corporate email and click New, it correctly defaults to send from the corporate account. However, when viewing my Sky email account and click New, it always defaults to send from the Google account. If I forget to change it, I'm having to manually transfer sent items between the accounts.

Is this what 21st Century tech. is all about? :)

I don't want this. I only send/receive email at my Sky account. I can't find how to set the default to be my Sky account for IMAP/POP accounts. As I said, it works correctly for the corporate account.

If I delete the Google account, it then correctly defaults to the Sky account when viewing Sky email.

Thanks

Also, as I don't use Gmail for email, can I hide it from the list of accounts in the Gmail app so it's not even usable?

What is your device? What version of Android is it running and lastly what email app/s are you using?

OK I'm stumped. I am doing the same as you and don't have those issues. Having said that my device is still on lollipop although I believe the Email app is unchanged.

I saw something last week that said you need to do a factory reset and skip the initial prompt for a Google account. Then add the one you want as default first.

I couldn't believe that was the case, but I've just done and it does work. That's a joke, Google!

My Gmail account doesn't even show in the list of options in the From field now (good), but it does show as an account in the Mailboxes list.
