Help Default Text Message For Ignored Phone Calls

Well-Known Member
So I am loving my E3D overall, but just came across something that I thought was odd and I am hoping there is a fix.

Under the phone settings you can enter a default text message that gets send when you get a call and press the menu key and select Send Message.

That works fine and well when you phone is active (Not Locked) when you get a call, but if your phone is locked with either the normal lock screen and or the pattern or password lock, you do not have the ability to bring up that Send Message choice because you have to first either answer the call or decline the call, both of which are not an ideal situation. Is this a glitch that needs to be reported to HTC or am I spacing out and missing something easy here?

i doubt its a glitch. its a "feature" thats just been a staple of these devices. ive had that "feature" on other handsets--never used it.

i would not call it a bug, rather just something the htc folk overlooked. sure its worth an email into them to mention it..

I noticed this too and thought it was stupid since most of the time I would use that is if I was NOT able to pay attention to the phone, which means it would most likely be locked and/or stowed away.
On my old Treo it would give the potion of sending a text after the call was missed. I like the idea of being able to decline a call with an "I'm busy" text. I'd like to see this fixed to work from the lockscreen!

:D this is grossly OT and i apologize, (this tickled me so...)

however its fascinating to me how one flopped letter can alter a words meaning... ahh the english language... :o

Update Everyone!

Below in Red is the response from HTC regarding this issue. Apparently the powers to be know that we have lost this functionality in 3.0 Sense as they claim this is normal and intended.

Please rally together if you miss this feature and email HTC at the below link. Use my Ticket Number in their response of: 11USCW27ENA001674 in the body of your email.

RE: Ticket 11USCW27ENA001674
Please change 3.0 Sense to allow the ability to send a text message to an inbound call when the phone is locked, just like we could do with the previous version of Sense. Without the ability to do so, I find the new version of Sense 3.0 to be lacking a wonderful and often used feature.

From HTC:

"Dear Todd Pedersen,

We certainly understand wanting to make sure your HTC Evo 3D is functioning properly. Unfortunately, the issue you describe is actually normal operation for devices using the HTC Sense interface. The option to send the message is only available through the Phone Dialer function, which can only be accessed after the phone is unlocked.

We apologize for the inconvenience and will document your concerns for future review in possible device updates or releases. Feel free to contact us again should you have any further questions. If you feel more comfortable discussing issues by phone, you can contact Technical Support at 1-866-449-8358, 6 am to 1 am EST, 7 days a week.

Below is another response I received from HTC. Progress??? We shall see.

Dear Todd Pedersen,

I know how important it is for your phone to work properly. To my understanding when you receive a call and your phone is locked you are unable to send a text message that you are not available. We are aware of this issue and are working on an update that will fix that incomplete feature of the phone. At this time we don
