Delay in sending mails

I own a Samsung Galaxy S2 running Gingerbread.
Whenever I try sending an email from my mobile, the email gets delivered after 4-5 hours. I tried using Wi-fi, GPRS etc., but still, the same problem persists. Please help me with this.
