Delayed apps

Hey all

I finally decided to register cause I couldn't take this anymore.

I have a HTC Sensation. The main apps I use on it is Whatsapp, gmail and FB. My friend will send me a message on whatsapp and I will only get it maybe 5 or so hours later, I will get it anytime before then if I unlock my phone or go to the app itself. Same as FB, I will only get the notifications once I am active with my phone.

I've tried custom ROMS aswell. I have tried anything and I can't get it to go off straight away or within 5 min without me being active with phone.

Any help?

Thanks.

Do you have a power saving app like Juice Defender installed? Or does your phone have a power saver mode? Turn those off. You can get what you want at the cost of less battery life.

Chanchan is definitely pointing you in the right direction here...The default settings for Juice Defender turn off all data when the phone is locked, therefore, making it unable to receive any type of notification via any app that uses the Internet.

Otherwise restarting the device by pulling the battery reinserting and restarting should solve the power saving issue, if that is the issue

Go to Settings > Mobile Network. Is the "Enable always-on mobile data" ticked?

If not then your data connection will go into sleep mode when the phone is off, meaning that anything that uses a data connection like notifications won't won't because your data connection is in sleep mode, this is what WhatsApp uses.

If you tick this box then your data connection should always be on even if the screen isn't and you should start to receive notifications and WhatsApp messages.

Thanks for the quick replies.

That juice program, is it a 3rd party program? Cause I have never installed something like that before.

My "Enable always-on mobile data" is ticked.

I'll try the battery pull now :)

Thanks again.

Yeah JuiceDefender is a 3rd party app that can turn off certain services like your data connection when you don't need it but obviously if you haven't installed it then it won't be that.

Hmm, "Enable always-on mobile data" is the only thing I can think of that would stop your data connection from turning off when the screen is off.

Has it always been like this or only happened recently? And if recently have you installed any apps or changed any settings at all?

Always been like this, so thought I would try custom ROM and hope it will be sorted but no luck. Tried the battery pull so just waiting and seeing how it goes.
