Here is what I got from Samsung about 15 min ago.

Addison: Hi, thank you for contacting Samsung Technical Support. How may I help you today?
Jason Myerchin: I was wondering about an update for the Samsung Transform.
Addison: I understand that you want to know about the Android 2.2 upgrade for the handset. Am I correct?
Jason Myerchin: Yes, that is correct.
Addison: Thank you for confirming.
Addison: Unfortunately there is no update available at this time for your phone model, nor is there an estimated date of one being released. We are unable to speculate when/if a software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.
Addison: Should this become available, it will be posted on our website in the Samsung Download Center .
Jason Myerchin: Was it originally to be updated today and cancelled?
Addison: I'm sorry we have no information.
Addison: I would have surely helped you if I had the official information regarding the issue. I don't want to provide any wrong information.
Jason Myerchin: Is there elsewhere I can investigate to find the correct information?
Addison: I suggest you to contact our phone support for more information.
Addison: Let me provide the number for you.
Jason Myerchin: Ok.

Ugh. Inconsistent little bastards... I mean... Um we've been told a lot that we are getting the update and a lot that there is no clue, I don't know what to believe now really. I just want to see if my fathers stock Transform says there is an upgrade..

I called the Samsung Voice Support Team number the Samsung Chat gave me. (You can reach them at 1-888-987-4357, Mon - Fri : 7am - 9pm (CST) Sat : 9am - 6pm (CST)) The rep there said there IS an update. It HAS NOT YET been released. There is no tentative date scheduled for the release. When SPRINT does release it, it WILL be an OTA Update. I have a stock Transform and still says my Android is up to date. Will continue to wait......

My 30-day exchange window ended yesterday so I swapped my Transform for the LG Optimus S (already on 2.2, and headed towards 2.3). Goodbye Samsung. Good luck Transform owners.

Razz is the 3rd person who has said in the Transform Forums 'Switching to the Optimus S! It has Froyo!' I would love the real 2.2 update right about now... It sucks to see a community dwindle.

Ahhhh. Good luck with the Optimus. Personally, I love my phone.

I just messed around with my Optimus S, and it still bugs me how much 2.2 keeps that phone in such a good state of latency. With legit Froyo our phones will probably be even faster than the port. Thats what I'm hoping for.

I wish that I could have tried the Transform with an official Froyo release before my 30-day exchange window had closed. I didn't root my Transform because I was busy and it didn't sound like the unofficial Froyo releases made it any better than the Optimus S. With an official Froyo relase, maybe the 800MHz/256MB-RAM Transform will become better/faster than the 600MHz/512MB-RAM Optimus S. Maybe not. It's not clear to me that the Transform's 1.33X higher CPU speed is enough to compensate for having half as much RAM, in real-world usage. And if Samsung doesn't implement a graphics driver (and they never promised to do so) then I think the Optimus will continue to have superior (or at least equal) real-world performance.

I thought that the Transform's processor speed, keyboard, flash, and front-facing camera would make it superior to the Optimus, but (thanks to speech synthesis & decent on-screen keyboards) I NEVER used the slide-out keyboard on the Transform, and I didn't use the flash (though it seems particularly useful for younger people taking nightclub photos), and it ran MUCH slower than the Optimus. Video conferencing would be pretty cool, and I'll probably miss having that if/when Samsung makes it work. On the other hand, I prefer the Optimus in practically EVERY other regard-- especially the video camcorder resolution, which is 4X higher than that Transform. (I'll use the camcorder functionality far more than I would have used the video conferencing functionality.)

Oh well. I'll be interested to see how the Transform turns out with the official Froyo release. (I might be crying.) Apparently LG said that they'd release Gingerbread for the Optimus. I don't expect Gingerbread to be as big of an improvement as Froyo was, but SIP should be nice-- especially for international business trip usage. At this rate, it's hard to imagine Samsung upgrading the Transform to Gingerbread.

Sorry for this long, boring post. I just thought I'd try to provide my reasoning for swapping my Transform for an Optimus. It gave me heartburn because the Transform hardware has such potential. Maybe somebody from Samsung reads these forums and it will actually do you guys some good. (Doubt it.) Again, good luck!

i got everything stock. no update yet :(

but i feel like if sprint/samsung are for reals this time AND froyo handles on my phone like it does my the optimus, we could have the potential for a pretty decent stock phone

It'll be nice when we get our real build of Froyo, add our drivers and make pure vanilla Froyo. Thanks for the explaination though Razz. I do kinda understand your reasoning.

i'm gonna be the (extremely) cautiously optomistic one here and go ahead and ask, assuming this roll-out is for real how long will OTA take to reach all of us.

So, how do we restore from Titanium Backup once we've reflashed stock? I assume everyone will have to:

(1) make a backup of apps and data via TB on the SD Card;
(2) flash back to stock;
(3) do the official Froyo update:
(4) re-root with the Vampirefo kernel;
(5) redownload (?) TB;
(6) restore apps and data from TB.

Is this correct?

I dont think youll able too root with the old method, u have to wait for someone to come out with a new one. (I think)
