Hi,

I need to delete the history of phone numbers i've texted. I've deleted the contact already and all the previous texts. The problem is when i go to write a text message from scratch, i know the first three numbers and when I type them in, i get a history or lookup pop-up underneath that displays the full phone number.

Long story, i have to stop texting this person.
I have an HTC-One Android.

Let me know if you need me to clarify anything further

Are you using any 3rd party messaging apps? You can always clear the data on the messaging app in settings, app, or app manager, messaging app n clear data! Keep in mind it will set all settings back to default in that app and could possibly delete all SMS!

Thanks but you're going to need to be more specific - no i'm not using any third party messenger. I can delete past text conversations but i want to delete the the numbers no longer saved under a contact but that still appear when i begin typing in a number under creating a new text from scratch

Amarie is suggesting clearing data for the message app itself, rather than deleting conversations. Go into Settings > Apps > All, select the message app and "clear data" (she was actually being specific, except she couldn't tell you which message app because she didn't know which you used - since you've told us it's the stock one I can tell you to look in the All tab of Apps settings). If the reason for your problem is that the message app has kept a record of numbers you have texted previously then this will clear it.

I'd suggest backing up your messages first. I don't think this will erase all messages (they are stored in a separate database), but I'm not certain that it won't, so best to be safe.

Really? I don't think I've ever seen that except where the app has no data stored (which you should be able to see from that screen).

I've attached a screenshot, maybe this will give you an idea
