Deleted gmail account by mistake

My gmail account has been deleted by mistake and now I am unable to load any new apps on my phone.
Any advice would be most welcome as google has been totally unhelpful in regard to this problem. It's mind boggling when these companies get to such a huge size they seem to forget that it's their customers that made them wealthy in the first place.

My phone is a HTC Desire.

Try settings > account & sync > add account ...?

I've done that but everytime I try and log into the apps market it goes back to the same email address and it won't let me delete the old email address. I think next time I'll buy an apple phone. This is just ridiculous.

Sounds silly, but try loading youtube and logging into that with the gmail account you need, that has your market apps registered to it

Thanks a lot for your help, but I have just gone and factory reset the phone and resetting it up now. Bloody frustrating but I'm over it now. Thanks.

Hello can someone help me, i am new to this site. I am using a android G1 dream. and i have down graded it back to cupcake. and my service provider does not have data plan for androids, so i have to use wireless internet to activate my Google Account. when i was downgrading i for got to turn on USB debugging so i cant find any adb devices are drivers can i get some help plz.....
