OK, I don't know about flashing stock ROMs on Samsungs. I think you use a program called Kies, and can obtain the software from Sammobile.com, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. Make sure you find the software for your exact model, and if you have any uncertainty wait until someone who knows these devices replies.

But you definitely don't flash stock software the way you'd flash a custom ROM. That's true on any device. So to remove any ambiguity, can you tell us what tar it is you found, what you mean by "a regular ROM" (custom or stock?) and how you would flash it? It's easier for people to help if they don't have to make guesses as to what you mean.

But if you are rooted and have a custom recovery - and I can't think how else you could erase your ROM by accident - why not just flash a new custom ROM? Or find a stock ROM that can be flashed from recovery (most likely you'll find one in the same XDA forum that you could find a custom ROM)? Again, and as always, make sure it's for your particular model, since there are different models of S3.

multiple websites told me to flash it and my model is the 1747

Right, so you didn't answer any of the questions: which tar, how did you try to flash it, and what do you mean by a "regular" ROM (stock or custom)? ;)
Oh sorry my bad i use the pda or ap depending on what odin version stock os and i used this tar I747UCDLK3_I747ATTDLK3_I747UCDLK3_HOME.tar

I'm glad you fixed it. But for future reference you use a program called Odin to flash the stock TAR file. The instructions for doing so are on SamMobile. Kies is a completely different route that half the time doesn't work right if the phone has been rooted and should be avoided. Just download the tar, put the phone into download mode, open Odin, select the tar, and flash. It's very easy.

With the i747, you cannot downgrade. You have to flash the current Android version you are on or higher. AT&T. Doesn't release their firmware and Sammobile only has the original version released for the phone.
There are rooted stock firmware zip files that you can flash in a custom recovery. Here are the last two versions, NJ1 and NJ2

Ok i need help i was installing g apps after i got a os cynogen mod and it was working i didnt have google apps so i flashed it but it was a image file and now it wont start up i tried re flashing twrp recovery but odin wont check the md5

oml

Odin is hanging Up on Checking MD5 and not giving you a Start Button?
Try loading the TWRP tar in the PDA slot before you connect the phone to PC.
