OK, you've repeatedly made it very clear you're averse to using cloud-based services but again, how does your personal viewpoint contribute to this thread and the query that was originally posted?

Read the original post, how was that my opinion?

Does it have cloud and was it activated, if so you should be able to restore data, I say should because android doesn't always work the way it should.

WTF is wrong with that post in light of there being a Google cloud that indeed stores photos?

I logged on to google and the drive/photos/gmail are all empty. But my photos are apparantly being backed up by Photos now.

I can't believe that an operating system can let you delete stuff in error so easily with no possibilty of recovery.
Just seems like a major error by those who designed Android.
