Is there a way someone that sent me sms text messages to my LG G7 phone can delete them? I had a conversation thread with someone a few months ago. I went back and looked and all of the responses they sent are not gone. But the messages I sent are still there. Is there a way I can get their responses back?

No, the sender cannot delete SMS from your phone unless they get access to the phone.

Some message systems might allow this, but SMS definitely does not.

So weird. Because all of the responses are gone on that tread. Is there anyway to get them back?

I wouldn't get your hopes up, deleted SMS messages going back a few months are not be retrievable. Just looking forward, install an app like this 'SMS Backup & Restore' utility from the Play Store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&hl=en_US
Use it to do a backup of your text messages and phone call log. It will work out well to transfer your SMS and phone call log from one phone to another, but its backup feature is something you should have implemented. Be sure to go into the app's Settings menu and set it up to do automatic backups (there are options for weekly, daily, hourly, etc.) and the location of the backup files (online to Google Drive, Dropbox, or MS OneDrive; or locally to your internal storage or microSD card)

In the future, back them up (along with other "important stuff") with an app like Super Backup And Restore in the PS...

If they are SMS, no. Not unless you made a backup beforehands (let me this app and this app to the list of candidate backup apps, but they can't help with recovering messages that were lost before you use them).

As I say, it may be different for different message protocols. But for SMS they are delivered and that's it. The sender will have a copy, but I suspect that's not going to help you. In some countries the service provider will have to keep a copy of who the messages were sent from and to and when, but not the content of the message (and they'll give that infromation to the security services but not to you). So your options for recovering them yourself are very slim.

Maybe.

But it depends on how you had things set up beforehand.

Does your carrier offer its own backup service? (When I used to have AT&T, they did, so I know it's possible.) If so, had you enabled it?

Likewise, did you enable Google's automatic backups?

Do you have any cloud storage accounts, like Dropbox?

If you answered 'yes' to any of the above, you may have backups sitting somewhere. Please let us know, and then we can proceed from there.

In fact the approach @MoodyBlues is giving in here is a very good one..that was going to be my suggestion..more over..majority of the texts are being hoared In the web sites..I've seen mine in the t mobile site when I used to be with them..I do not know if they still are being recorded any more
