Help Deleted voicemail

A friend has deleted a voicemail message by accident. It's a work related enquiry giving a number to return call and there was no number stored so, now with the message deleted have no number. They have phoned the provider who said nothing they can do, but I wondered if anyone on here had any knowledge if it is possible.

If I am not mistaken, once deleted but not saved prior, it is gone forever.

Cheers. He has contacted the provider but they said no, but he was saying 21st century surely something can be done. Think he flapping cos I think it's an enquiry for work and is obviously gonna lose the job but also I suppose maybe its reputation at appearing to not respond.
