Help Deleting 1 email on Wildfire purges all my deleted IMAP emails

Hi,

When I delete one email on my HTC wildfire, it purges all the deleted emails on my IMAP webmail.

So I can sit at my desktop computer and delete an email, but still recover it. As soon as I delete another email via my Wildfire, it permanently deletes both this email, AND purges the email I deleted via my desktop.

The Wildfire setting don't seem to have any option to avoid this. I'm losing all my email archive whenever I delete email on my phone.

Any solutions?

Thanks,

Duncan

Welcome to Android Forums dunxmac. You should see a setting that will leave mail on server. That's your choice to keep all mail on your PC. Though dnlded from the phone it will leave it on the server for your PC. Whatever you delete from the phone will only remove the mail from the phone. I hope this works for you.

Hi Olbriar,

Thanks for the welcome and the reply. I actually keep all my mail on the server - neither my PC nor my phone download it. The weird thing my phone does is, when you delete a single message on the server via my phone, ALL the messages marked as 'deleted' on the server (i.e. they have a line scored through them, but are still recoverable) are purged from the server. So a message I have marked as deleted via my desktop becomes unrecoverable once I have deleted a different message via my phone!

I *have* found a solution of sorts: I now have my server moving, to a trash folder, messages deleted via my desktop. This way the phone can't purge them. But still, it's weird.

My webhost doesn't seem to have an answer to this. If this is helpful to forum users, well and good. Thanks for your time.
