deleting an sms without opening it

I've been unwillingly receiving some advertisement sms which charge my account once the sms is opened.

Is there a way to delete an sms message without opening it?.

You should be able to open your messaging app and long press on that message until the menu pops up with an option to delete. I have also had some people tell me they were able to call their carrier and have the numbers like that blocked - premium messaging I believe is the term they use.

That is odd, there should be no way for the sender to know if you have opened the message or not.

All you have to do is longpress (hold) on the conversation you would like to delete. It will bring up a menu, and delete should be somewhere, click it then, confirm it. Also, there is an app that lets you block calls and texts from any number, that's if you keep receiving these premium messages. You can get this app from the store, it is something along the name of SMSBlocker or something.
