Deleting Duplicate SMS

hi there. today i installed GOSMS Pro and out of curiosity checked the Private Box feature, what it did was "copy" the thread inside the box (for which it needed password) but at the same the thread was visible on main screen as well. so i found this useless and went on to remove the thread from the private box. and THIS happened..

i had experimented on the thread that has over 4500 messages (in and out) [which was my GF's thread, thus the need to make it "private"] and NOW i have over 9000 messages in that thread, with all the messages TWICE inside the conversation thread!

so is there any app (or feature of gosms pro itself) that would allow me to delete the DUPLICATE messages? please i really need to do this, as now that thread is taken too much time to load, and NO i dont wanna delete it! thanks!

Does your stock SMS app now also show 9000 messages in that thread?

yes, thats the issue, I tried uninstalling gosms pro, but the issue is still the same

In that case you have no option but to delete if you really want/need to clear your phone's memory.

However, that doesn't have to be fatal!

Because before you delete: make a good backup, and copy that backup data set from your SDcard to your main machine's harddisk or SSD (wireless or via USB). Then you will still have it all, and you can restore it if you need/want to read it again in future (TBH I don't think you ever will IRL...), AND you will have cleaned up the storage space on your phone.
