Deleting or hiding unwanted native apps

This is my first experience with Android. Is there a way to delete or at least hide the icon for unwanted or unneeded applications such as corporate calendar? Thanks.

The above post works for icons or widgets on your desktop, as for icons in the menu i don't believe there is s way to hide them.

select these icons from the main menu-settings-applications-manage applications.
select the application you want to remove and uninstall

LauncherPro (which can be found in the Android Market) has a setting to hide apps you don't want to see in the App Drawer...

If you are rooted you can use Titanium Backup to "freeze" apps and that will hide them from your app drawer. I have to reboot for it to take effect but that is a minor inconvenience. A quick click and they are restored to their former glory if you decide you want to use them again. No having to reinstall them.
