Help Deleting pre-installed apps

Hi Everyone

I've had my Desire S for a week now and want to get rid of some of the pre-installed apps:

Facebook
Friend Stream
Virgin Music Sync
Peep
Soundhound
Stocks
Talk
Twitter

Can someone tell me how to do this and if it is safe to do so?
Thanks in advance.

Hi. No can do I'm afraid unless you are prepared to 'root' your phone (gain full control of the Operating System, but this is another kettle of fish). Also some of these apps are important to the system and are tied in to the function of Android, so removing them would mess up your phone.

I suggest you go into the settings of all the apps you mentioned, and turning off notifications, updates and anything else you want off, and just leaving them dormant in your app drawer.

Thanks jimeller, thought I had read something along those lines but wasn't too sure. Have all the updates for those apps already turned off.
Cheers mate

If you root your device you will be able to uninstall most of the apps mentioned. Rooting will void your warranty but some roots can be unrooted again. Search Google for some experiences with rooting before you make up your mind, rooting brings a lot more advantages than removing system apps only, and you don't have to install a custom rom if you're not up for that. You can even disable adds in most apps and games if you're rooted and boost you're sound. It did wonders for the wifi reception on my cheap chinese tablet. Look into it, you'll be surprised what your phone can do.
