Android Question

I have an HTC Sensation on T-Mobile and I was wondering how to delete contacts off of my SIM card. I am not interested in changing which ones are viewable in the phonebook, I actually want them to go away. Whenever I delete them in the phonebook they just reappear and it is really bugging me.
