Apple iPad 3 vs Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime - Comparisons - Know Your Mobile

knowyourmobile.com is part of the supposedly reputable Dennis Publishing stable, yet they get away with posting utter garbage like this!

The "article" ends with:

"Apple's iPad 3 has done the unthinkable and beaten the mighty Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime!"

Yes, it really is unthinkable that a tablet that does not exist can be compared (with a straight face) in this way.

so the ipad3's leaks/rumors has beat an actual transformer prime. well, now i know how the giants felt saturday when they had already lost the game to the packers, before it was even played.

ROFL!!! Oh, thank you for giving me a good laugh. Let's compare a real device with an imaginary one. Hey, the imaginary one beats the real one all the time! LOL It will be quite interesting to see the reaction if the real *pad 3 ends up not having any of those specs they are dreaming about. By the way, I have them beat. My imaginary Asus Transformer MAX with a octa-core CPU, 560dpi screen, 4 GB RAM, and 1 TB of storage beats the *pad 3 any day! LOL

I couldn't agree more. After all, a prime in the hands is worth two unreleased iPad 3s in the bush.

id rather have the 2 fictitious ipads in my bush, than have 1 TF201 with weak wifi sitting in my hands :(

There are Apple Stores out there, my sister works at one. I'm sure they'll sell you an iPad 2. Maybe you could pre-order an iPad 3.:D

I'd rather have an open source, easily customizable, Android system than a locked down by iTunes, everybody’s screens look the same glorified iPod Touch.

I know Asus didn’t launch this thing right. Some may have WiFi problems but mine is great. I do have the GPS issue but I would have bought this thing even if Asus didn’t offer GPS. I’m just sick and tired of all the comments on the forums. If people are disappointed with their Prime send it back for a refund.

My Prime is great and is everything I expected. Even my wife picked it up last night to surf the net for something and commented on how nice it worked and felt in her hands. She is not a Apple Fan chick but has a iPhone3GS and likes Apple Products a lot. She wanted me to get and iPad and I refused because of the control Apple has over its customers.

That article is a J-O-K-E

How is it this guy gets to keep posting on here? I made a comment on the rezound forum about nexus fanboys and the thread was closed for negative comments. Yet this guy constantly bashes the prime and those who buy it and he's still here. Is it because he always ends up saying he was just joking?
Some people are having problems and yes the GPS doesn't work, we know. Now let the adults have real conversation about our tablets.

I found it somewhat funny, and it was mocking my comment. Just out of curiosity, what do you have against the nexus?

Don't have anything against the nexus. Just was pointing out how people were praising it as the best phone ever before it was even released. I then pointed out how it reminded me of apple fanboys. After a few people agreed with me the thread was closed.

Fair enough, and I would totally agree about it being just like the apple fan boys. I was probably one of them to some extent, but not nearly as vocal. I feel more at home with our prime community though.

Yes, I was referring to you.

I think you have your chopsticks crossed.

firstly, this is not XDA where we make fun of users who have negative feelings toward the device they purchased.

lastly, i love my prime, and my android phone. you might have been mistaken on who you think is always knocking the android lol

Power
Asus' Eee Pad Transformer Prime has power to burn thanks to its mighty Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset, which boasts a quad-core CPU clocked at 1.3GHz and the next generation of ULP GeForce GPU's.
The device also has 1GB RAM, offers 32 or 64GB of on-board storage and also supports Micro SD cards up to 32GB in capacity.
According to several leaks Apple's iPad 3 will also boast quad-core architecture, but knowing Apple the A6 chip will be quite conservatively clocked, likely to around 1Ghz. We expect the device will also pack 1GB RAM, rather than the 512MB on offer in the iPad 2
Don't expect support for removable memory though. We can't see Apple changing the habit of a lifetime. Having said that, with a quad-core CPU and Apple's software we can't see Android holding a candle to the iPad 3's processing power.
Winner - iPad 3

So I've stopped reading after this first part and refuse to go any further.
Basically two Quad core processors, one presumably clocked higher than the other. Also the device with the higher clocked processor has more available storage space if expandable memory is included and it is the loser in that category.
This article is originally from The Onion right? It must be.

well, I'm disappointed to say the least - I thought Dennis had more integrity than that.

Posted the following:
"This is a joke article right?
Dennis publishing have let themselves down very poorly with an article comparing speculation with fact.
I've been a subscriber to PcPro for over 10 years and I've never come across such utter drivel. I am seriously reconsidering my subscription.

Well done Dennis Publishing, you've made yourselves a laughing stock."

Lets see how long it lasts before they pull it.

Article made me laugh... then I hated apple just a little bit more, the whole not being able to change memory is the biggest turn off to me

That article is a joke. Only thing that can be predicted to be a winner on Apples part is the software. Android still has to catch up to the quantity and quality of apple tablet only apps. We getting there though.

I've used a Prime and an iPad 2, and though I do much prefer the Prime I have to admit: the iPad 2 is a pretty fluid device. It's really the animations, I think, like when you go to photos and there are all these swooshy flowing integrated things going on that just look good as they're happening. Highly optimized code and little else going on in the background will do this.

However, I'll also say: all those animations would drive me batty after awhile. They would be cool at first, but then they would just get in the way and slow things down. I'd be screaming at the thing just like I did my MacBook Pro before I sold the thing: I DON'T NEED FREAKING ANIMATIONS FOR EVERYTHING!!! Apple must think people have such short attention spans that they need to be reminded about how things work EVERY TIME THEY USE an Apple device.

I like the animations in ICS. They're not quite as fluid (although fluid enough, I submit), but they add to the experience without being overbearing or ultimately insulting. And of course widgets are so darn functional: half the time, I just turn my Prime on and glance at my main home screen to see: the weather, my new email messages, my upcoming calendar appointments, new Twitter posts, new Facebook updates, etc. No need to open a single app: just wake up, unlock, glance, and turn back off.

Kind of rambling here, but if I have a point it would be: yes, the iPad 3 will probably be more highly optimized and smoother. But iOS will still be far less functional.

My wife has never had an Apple device. She has been Android for as long as Android has been around. I thought I would change it up and get her an iPad2 for Xmas. She messed around with it a bit and didn't really like it. I asked her why? And she said she just couldn't figure it out. Where I said, "Honey, that's it! That is all there is. You have it figured out! That is just all there is to it!" To which she said, "Return it and get an Android Tab. This thing is Boring".....which is how we ended up with the Prime.

I only have one word about this story: precious! :)
