Help Desire 610 instantaneously drops all charge at once

(first post so here we go)

I bought the phone from bestbuy about two years ago as a prepaid phone for AT&T and one day i tried restarting it and it wouldn't power back on. 11 months later i try charging it again and it started up. After factory resetting it, ive been using it off service for about 8 months. Last month, it has been dropping from 60% to 0% instantly. Ive already uninstalled all apps, and it still happens. It's not like it shows it dropping from x% to y% and when you restart it it returns to x%, it actually loses all this charge. What could be sucking all this charge? I've tried everything i could have thought of and nothing works. Thanks for any response in advance.

This section of the forum is for the original Desire (2010 model), though I'm not sure whether we have a section for the 610.

In any case, my best guess is that the battery is starting to fail. I don't think it's really losing 60% suddenly, rather that charge isn't there. You can get battery meter calibration problems, but that severe seems unlikely to me.

Here in Europe it would have had a 2 year warranty, but I believe you only get 1 year on your side.
