Desire & N1 Roms

Apologies if I get some of the terminology or understanding wrong as I haven't fully looked into this yet, but if the Desire is indeed lacking some of the functionality of the N1, shouldn't it be pretty easy to put the N1 Desire ROM onto the Desire itself? Sounds daft, but for example the N1 Desire ROM has voice to text enabled.

Given the hardware similarities, I would think that converting mods for the N1 to Desire should be pretty easy?

I'm also interested in this. I don't really like the HTC Sense interface, and would like to use the Nexus rom, or at least the stock interface, on the Desire.

I live in the netherlands, so I cant buy the Nexus One here. :/

To be honest, my first choice would still probably be the N1 given the support and availability of updates etc.

However I just don't know when it will be officially launched with a carrier in the UK and even if it does it looks like it could be significantly more expensive.

I am just hoping my worries are unfounded and it is released with all the features intact and we get the support we are hoping for.

Will this completely remove it? Or will there still be things that have elements of the Sense UI in it? Like the adressbook for example.

Im sure you can 100% remove it.

If not, then there will most likely be a ROM made by someone that will be the default 2.1 UI.

I am really interested in this question. Right now I'd take HTC sense over stock 2.1. However say 6 months down the line you don't want to be stuck with sense on 2.1 when N1 users are rocking froyo or whatever. If you could port the N1 rom to the desire, the desire would have all the advantages. I'm guessing it should be easy to do as they are using essentially the same hardware.
