Help desire s update

Hi all.
I'm a newbie - perhaps someone can help.

I've got an HTC Desire S with 2.10.110.8 software.
The Android version is 2.3.5.
Question : Can I update it to a more up to date Android version?

(My tablet has KitKat)

There is. I have 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich on my phone.

First you'll need HTC sync.
HTC SYNC INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS | HTC United States
Install and make sure it recognizes you phone.

Once that is done you'll need the RUU package.

Unpack the .exe file. Right click the ruu and select run as administrator.

Everything on your phone except your SD card will be removed so make sure to backup.
