Hello,
I wonder if I am missing something, but the Android 2.2 version doesn't really help to avoid the "short on storage room" problem. I've moved to SD all the apps that had the "Move to SD card" button enabled in the application manager.
It's not that I have vast number of applications. The top 10 are: Adobe Flash player 11.0 (12.83MB), Google Maps (11.24MB), Aldiko (E-book reader, 9.04MB), Skype (8.19MB), Facebook (6.53MB), Market (5.84MB), Foursquare (5.07MB), Gmail (3.95MB), Amazon Kindle (3.75MB) and Youtube (3.73MB). The rest is 32 apps, most of them under 1MB.
It's hard to tell if those reported sizes is what the app actually takes up in the phone memory. The "SD & phone storage" section of settings shows that the available space on SD card is 2.94GB (from total of 3.69GB). So, there's still plenty of space on the SD card. However, the "Internal phone storage" is only 16.90MB.
When I try to update some of my existing apps, I get that "phone is short on storate" warning almost every time. I wonder if this is really considered normal situation. Do I really have to root my phone to fix this? Actually, would rooting even help?
