So I know there's ways of getting notifications sent to your desktop from your phone. But I've been looking at a few of the Atrix videos and kind of want the ability to answer texts and make calls and such from my computer. I know the Atrix has a special dock for this, but is there anything that will allow me to answer texts at least from my computer?

Hrm... DesktopGrab?

I tried searching the market and Googled it and I can't find anything about it for some reason. What is it?

I've seen dozens of URLs of websites that profess to offer free texting from your PC or Mac. I tried 8, at random, just yesterday. They all require you to go through a registration process. But none of those I tried, again: at random, actually worked. Most of the time there was a list of countries where they claimed it would work, but it was a listing of just 20 or 30 obscure countries (out of a potential 220), and mine wasn't among them. So I couldn't send a test sms. Other times simply nothing happened after pressing the send button.

I.o.w., in my experience: lots and lots of hot air, and nothing doing IRL.

Have you checked out MyPhoneExplorer? (Google it, it appears at/near the top). I just use it to sync Outlook contacts and calendar to my HTC Desire HD but it can also be used to sync files, send texts etc.

It says it only works for the Sony phones, but you got it working with a Desire? I have an Eris, so hopefully this will work...

Google Voice will. It only handles calls and SMS though. You don't even have to have the phone with you as long as you're at one of your phones for making outgoing calls. You can send and receive SMS from any internet connected PC.
