Root Dev Needed... 2.1 Running on the Behold 2

Nice work Eugene! thanks for giving time to us behold 2 users you know with family and other dev stuff in all!

Congratulation Behold 2 owners. I thought 2.1 would never make it to the Behold 2. I may need to dust off my Behold 2 when its done and play around.

LOL i really wanted a vibrant and was about to ditch this hpone until i heard about the recovery. then i got excited and decided to wait a little longer and voila 2.1 on behold 2!is 2.2.1 eclair or froyo? this really sound stupid lol

Working on the Recovery atm. 2.2.1 Dev'n has stopped until I get an all-in-one solution built into the recovery...

Why stop?
The recovery needs to fully support flashing Kernel / Recovery and so on..

Just a heads up, should have it fully finished tonight though.

Yes, ETA is estimated time of arrival. If you're looking for something to do now, I'd say do some research on recovery, and all the talk about ext2 and rfs if you don't already understand it all, because it sounds as though installing the new recovery will be necessary for getting 2.2.1. I dunno about you guys, but it's completely alien to me, so I'll need to look into that.

anyways, should be a good preparatory step, and it's something to do to avoid bricking a phone in our excitement when 2.2.1 gets here. and most importantly, it'll get here when it gets here. patience.

as it has been said before, if you try to rush things, it won't happen. so just sit back and relax, as those of us who have been "stuck" using this phone have been doing for some time. BH_MAN is the main person who is doing developing for this phone, so it may take time, as many of us have come to realize. When he's ready, it will be released.

good to see that we're ready to be patient, because Eugene's twitter says his hard drive died, which means he lost the BH2 data--not sure if he had backups or not, but he's looking for a new drive, and I'm assuming this means that the project could be put on hold for a while. best of luck to Eugene in getting a computer working again, BH2 work or not.

for future references never ask a Dev for a ETA, its a lose lose situation.
Eventually something will come up and the dev will not be able to reach the ETA for some reason then people will take to flaming then the Dev will not be as inclined to work, Keep in mind that most of the Devs have lives other than sitting in front of a terminal and coding all day.

I am not calling anyone out and personally the BH2 community is probably the best in android but eventually I assume that everyone will move on from the BH2 and move on to other phones and asking for ETA's is usually frowned upon.

I have a Backup from last Friday morning... But recovery & everything that pertained to the BH2 was Lost.

The Recovery is an easy fix to restore, but adding back in all the Patches to the kernel will be a Pain in the Ass.

But even Vibrant / G2 / Behold 2 stuff is at a stand still until I get another Hard drive ordered.

I think it's pretty obvious what happened here. Samsung hacked BH-MAN's computer and destroyed the hard drive. This is like the water engine all over again.

Hehe, seems reasonable. :D

Eugene, I hope this goes smoothly for you. My personal computer went dead a few weeks ago and I went through the annoying process of buying another one within two days so I could be ready for school. I sympathize...and finding the right component can be even pickier, because you need it to fit with what you already have. Best of luck!
