Root Dev Needed... 2.1 Running on the Behold 2

Well if you have a bh2 you're going to have to compile the kernel. All I gotta say is best of luck to you. As for me, I'll wait for bh_man's work. No offense.
 
I will also wait on Eugene, as I know his work will be great. However, if you do release a 2.x rom I will happily try it.
 
Before his computer crashed, he was working on 2.2.1. And last twitter post of his i saw, yesterday, he was still working in restoring his laptop so he could continue developing. He will release what he's working on when he's ready, as I have come to realize since i have been following his work on this phone for almost a year now. :-P

And when it is released it will be a wonderful thing as with all other roms he has shared with us. :)
 
BHMAN has stuck with is from the beggining we are lucky you have a dev like him without him are would not have made much progress know the behold and just forget about 2.2.1 without a dedicated dev like Eugene.

I think I speak for everyone on this forum when I say this.

Is this still happening? I know I mentioned that I'm throwing away this phone but then this thread gave me hope again so I reconsidered. After eugene's HD crash though, all he's been working on is vibrant stuff... So I was just wondering if this is still going to happen anytime soon. No pressure, just wondering. Thanks (:
 
If you follow/read Eugene's tweets, you'd see that he is planning on starting up developing again this weekend. Patience is a virtue, just give him time, it's not easy re-setting up Linux to dev.
 
Aequitas is right. And I know that everyone is excited and cant wait including me. But we have to give eigene time he is not computer or a company he is a normal person like all of us.

I tried something today and idk if it worked? ok i was running a modified version of eugines cookieclutter rom, and i flashed it directly from the phone (bh2) useing his recovery screen replacement, and then when i turned my phone everthing was working perfectly, i was gratefull, but i wanted to see if i could try something risky, i took the rom he provided in the link of the dev's download post and i flashed it, almost nothing worked, so what i did after that suprised me... i re-flashed the cookie clutter mod rom (without wipeing data) and before that i clicked convert to ext-2 and when i turned my phone on i had live wallpapers, and a diff home??? so i went into the about phone section and idk how this happned but i said that i am running 2.1??? and everything (including vibration and wifi) was working perfectly?? can someone please explain to me how this had happened, its not that im mad or sad lol im delighted, its just im still confuzed on what i exactly did to get this? and for the first few days i was useing it, it worked perfectly but on the 5th day of use idk what happened but when it died and i turned it back on, EVERYTHING WAS GONE?! i was running 2.1 apps and when i turned it back on they were gone?! Pleaseee help if someone could explain this whole thing to me then mabey i could to a accdental tutorial lol, but please someone help...

Lol I would but i used them all :P, anyway i think that like when i flashed it i guess the kernal or whatever it is that tell you the version never flashed right untill i rebooted >.< idk anyway i tried to do it again lmfaoo i failed :( but but but... i like to say that word :D, lol seriously tho mabey this is a breakthrough! (not) LOL :D
 
Put yourself in his shoes, guys. He just spent a ton of time and energy (and a lot of advil, I'm guessing) working on 2.2.1, and it sounds like he was making some excellent progress...then he went through the obnoxious ordeal of having his hard drive die and needing to rebuild his whole system, which is never fun. It takes a long time, there are always unforeseen setbacks, and it's just a pain. On top of all that, he lost a great deal of the progress that he'd made working on 2.2.1 for us. Which was a wonderful thing to do in the first place, because he doesn't even own the phone anymore!

So when he goes back to developing for the BH2, he'll have to redo a bunch of headache-inducing work just to get back to where he was, and there was some work left ahead of that too. For a phone that he hardly uses. I don't blame the guy for taking a break!
 
Well I managed to get bearsfan85's latest rom flashed to my phone, which has helped tremendously...speed and battery life are greatly improved...

Still though I feel that the phone isn't reaching it's full potential so I am excited to see that there has been some progress in getting 2.x into these phones like tmobile and samsung should have done to begin with. I'll probably be keeping this phone around for a good while longer (a year or so) and I will be watching your progress.

I as well no the full potential the behold 2 and i agree that it has not been reached. We're just going to wait and find out!

Thanks! After making that post and doing some more searching on this forum I ended up ditching open home in favor of adw launcher ex which made even more of a difference...open home had the tendency to slow down to a crawl after sitting for a while which was really annoying, only fix was to reboot. Doesn't happen at all with adw.

Also changed the default browser to dolphin mini, which sped things up a ton as well while dealing with the browser (either on the internet or just opening/closing the app). Other stock apps have gotten quicker too with this combination, including wifi and the market app both of which used to be pretty laggy. Even the app drawer is smooth and responsive.

To anyone wanting to get the most out of your Behold 2, I'd recommend that combination to anyone...Bearsfan85s latest 1.6 rom + adw launcher (free or ex, tried both but liked the extra customizability and therefore greater speed potential of ex) and dolphin mini browser...for the first time I actually can call this phone quick and responsive at all times and in all situations not just after a reboot...

In any case, it'll do nicely until hopefully 2.1 (or even perhaps 2.2!) is released.

Hopefully 2.2 will be released later on and i already have adw ex but i havent tried dolphin browser going to check it out.
