Apps Developing an app to find local events

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and new to app development all together, I'm a Graphic Designer by trade but I have a client asking about what it would take to build an app that works like some concert/event finder apps that we can utilize to promote their events around the country? This may be hundreds of events across the USA, and we are looking to have this app downloaded in the thousands is our hope.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, I can develop the app if I had the correct software or website that did something like this. Thank you for your help!
 
Your best bet is to ask in our Application Development section (there's actually a sticky thread in Android Questions about this). So I've taken the liberty of moving the thread over to there :)
 
I assume your client has the data to support the app, i.e. the details of their events. Do they already present these events on a website?
 
Your first step is downloading Android Studio, to get you started developing your app. It has lots of sample apps, some of which may do something similar to what you require.

I think at this point, from what you've said, I would recommend starting with something simple, like a 'hello world' app, just to get you familiar with building a simple app.
Android Studio has a great UI designer, which allows you to create your screens.
 
LV426, thank you for that, I may play around myself to develop an app and get used to it, since I'm sure this may come up again or something I would like to be able to do if ever need be. For the time being however, I know this client wants to have something up and running quicker than I could learn all the ins and outs of app building. Where would I start in finding someone that will accomplish what we are looking for? As I said I've seen plenty of event/concert finder apps, and we can provide all the data that the app would search for. Thank you again for the help!
