Apps Developing app to control lighting

I am wondering if someone can help?

I am looking at the possibility of creating my own app (whereby I can control LED lighting).

An app is currently available for this, but it is very basic (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lierda.wificontroller).

I am now looking at creating my own version of this app (with added functionality).

This can currently work in two ways. The kit comes with a wifi controller. The app can communicate directly with the wifi controller. The second way is the wifi controller can be connected to a home router (which then allows for a wider signal coverage).

As this app will transfer data, I am wondering if someone can help?

Any advise, guidance, tutorials, videos that may be beneficial to me would be much appreciated.

I am not an app developer, but am willing to give it a go.

Then, in order:

Learn programming
Learn Java
Learn the Android environment
Write a few apps

That should take you anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on how much time you can devote to it. (The first 2 steps are the most difficult.)

Writing an app isn't like writing a letter. An app that can control hardware requires a bit of experience.

Or were you talking about using some app that creates apps for you? (Which doesn't exist yet.)
