device not recognized

My phone began to randomly vibrate. AT&T determined that I could have a new phone--warranty. I'd like to know how to get the pictures before I send the old phone back. I plug into the computer and it says "device not recognized." Any ideas?

First, what phone do you have? You may require some software on your computer to install device drivers before it's recognised.

Alternatively, you could always email the photos to yourself!

If you have an internal memory card, the easy option would be to remove it and plug it into a memory card reader and stick it in your computer to grab everything off of it.

If your phone can go on your wifi at home, download File Expert from the market. Run it, hit SHARE MY CONTENTS, choose FTP.

A box will pop up giving you an ftp address like: ftp://192.168.1.123

Open a browser on your computer, type that in. Hit enter.

The contents of your phone will appear in the browser. Select what you want and copy it off to your hard drive.
