Dial Up App Request....

Hello all! I already use easytether for internet access on the go, what i need is an app that will allow me to tether my phone and dial a specific number of my choosing. I run a termninal program on my pc that connects to a remote terminal via land line that uses typical rs-232 communications, but easytether or pdanet do not allow dialing of specific numbers. I use a LG VX8360 with the drivers (LG CDMA USB mondem driver) and this gives me the option in my terminal program on my PC to select the LG phone and as modem and the terminal then dials which ever phone number i choose.

Any one able to make and app like this? I believ essentially the phone needs to be displayed in the phone modem options under control panel to ensure that it will be available to the terminal application. The terminal app is Procomm Plus.

Thanks TJ

Phone = Cellularsouth HTC Hero firmware 1.5
Software = Procom Plus

Guess im the only nut needing something like this. Man i wish i knew how to program. all i need the program to do is to make the phone show up as a modem to the computer. Any help will be much aprreciated.

I have the X10 mini and I need the same thing, dial up modem functionality. My previous phone was a cheap little Motorola and it had this functionality. Also my previous phone, an ancient Startac had it. I don't need it very often but when I do, there's no alternative.

I also used/need it to connect to standalone modems for remote maintenance of non-web connected systems.

I seriously doubt thee phones still have dial up modems at all and if the y do not have modems built in there is nothing any app can do about it.

I just started a similar thread in the DroidX forum before seeing this one... Honestly there's still many reasons someone might want to use their Android phone as a USB Modem to dial into other systems via the POTS, so I'm not sure why this isn't an option. Heck even newer laptops still often come with modems as either a standard or at least an add-on option for this very reason.

I'd think as advanced as Android is there'd be some way to do this.

Not only could I use something like this for connecting to my company's equipment via dialup, I have a few hundred customers I could recommend it to. If there is a developer out there who can make this happen, I'd love to pass the word about it.

I recently got the Samsung Galaxy S and now the phone shows up in the terminal window of the procomm plus application but when i try dialing out i get the error, "A telephony service is temporarily unavailable. A no TAPI application maybe using the line." Now since it is getting this far is there someting else needed on the phone to open a dial session?

I'm a PBX tech, looking for the same capability on my Droid. Ras/DUN access would be heaven-sent, truly allowing me to telecommute.
