Root Dialer got uninstalled now phone dosent work

Huawei M865
Android 2.3 (I think)
Rooted
Cricket

So, in a nutshell, I was using an app to uninstall some unwanted stock apps when my phone decided to freak out and uninstall the Dialer app. (I did not do this, but that is besides the point.) Now a window will pop up saying the process Dialer has stopped working and to force close. I have been online for an hour trying to figure out how to get my phone back and this is all over my head (I havent messed around much with smart phones) From what I can tell most people have had luck flashing their phones but they are talking about roms and specific phones and...im lost. help

When you rooted your phone did you do a nandroid backup? If so, you can boot into recovery and restore your backup. If you didn't you will need to do a fresh ROM install. Unless someone has an .apk you can install to get the dialer back, which I do not.

ok so then how do I do a fresh ROM install? Do I need some specific software for my phone or can I just use any old Android ROM? (I assume that doing a ROM install is a lot like reformatting a computer with a new os) Do I need to do this though my phone or can I do it off of my computer?

You will need to find a ROM that will work on Cricket network. The bad news is I looked in this forum and on the XDA Developers forum and I do not see a sub-section for your phone.

If you can find a ROM, it will be in a .zip file. Put this file on the root of you SD card. When you boot into recovery you will select load from ZIP. Then scroll to the zip file and select it. The new ROM will install. And yes, it's like installing a new OS onto a computer.

One thing you could try is a factory reset. This will find out if it really did get uninstalled or if something else is happening. Setting>privacy>factory data reset.

If you're getting a dialer has caused problems force close it sounds like it's may be still there just something interfering with it.

Does it show in manage apps? try from manage app to click dialer then click clear data

I tried that. Both from the phone itself and from the bootscreen. all that did was make it so I cant get past the origional "touch the android to begin" screen.

Nope, tried that. Went back to the origional app that caused this headache and that dialer program was gone. And no there is nothing interfearing with it it was uninstalled.

I've spent hours trying to find a rom for my phone but the only one that is out there is for the origional Ascend. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I feel like I should clear something up here. I have been reading up on how to install a custom ROM and it seems that you need to be able to access your phone in order to flash it or install a rom. I can not access my phone. It loads fine but once it gets to the main screen it gets stuck at set up (specifically the "touch the android to begin" screen) I can sync the phone with my computer but that is it. Is there a way for me to flash my phone and install a rom without being on the computer?

You will need to be able to connect your phone to a computer via the USB. The ROM would be downloaded onto the PC. You then would transfer the file to the root of your SD card. Once there you can boot into recovery and select load ZIP from SD. You will then see the list of files on your SD card. You scroll to the zip file and select it. It will then start to install the ROM.

You could download the file directly to your phone using the browser but this would take a long time to do.

yep tried that...with three different roms (stock and two customs) got a message saying "E:signature verification failed. Installation aborted."

I have not flashed my phone (not sure how to do that if I can access the dam thing) would this have any bearing on why I am getting this message?

Well I came late to this thread, but I didn't see anywhere if you downloaded the aftermarket recovery, made by pg. You need that to begin with. If you CAN get into your phone and it is rooted, you can install it via CWM. This might help the signature verification issue. Then you follow the "how to" on flashing a dev'd rom. Both the semi stock one's from Vadim and PG, and there is a CM7 out there on another site. Follow the procedures and flash the rom. It should clear up any issues you are having. If you need more direction, let us know, and you are more than welcome to PM me.

Well, I was hoping that when I replied to you that it would be with a "IT WORKED!" no such luck. You pointed me in the right direction but I'm stuck...again. I can not get onto my phone but I did manage to find a way around that through adb. However I'm trying to do the fastboot method and am having no love. My computer sees the phone and it shows up when i do the adb devices command but nothing comes up when I do the fastboot devices comand. anyone have any suggestions?

Well, unfortunately you need an updated recovery, via ROM manager or with fast boot. That will enable you to install the custom ROMs. If you can't get in to your phone, then you have to use the fastboot method. I'd try a different PC, install the usb drivers on it, and try the wiki again. You could always take the phone into cricket and have them swap it out, but I don't know how intelligent they are when it comes to seeing what you've done to the phone. Try another PC, and if that doesn't work, let us know or PM me, I can try to walk you through the steps and see where it hangs up. I've flashed about 4 different phones so far, and I've seen a wide range of issues, so maybe I can be of help if I know where the issue lies. Good luck

So here is something that I just noticed. I finally got my old xp laptop working again so I thought I would try this again on this computer. Same thing happened, however I noticed that when I booted my phone into fastboot and connected it to my laptop it would search for drivers. I copied the drivers off my phone and put them on the desktop. Then when my computer searched for the drivers I pointed it to that folder. It said that it couldnt find the drivers. Whenever I type in adb devices in the command prompt it finds my phone but when I type in fastboot devices it dosent find anything. I googled it to see if I was missing a driver but the only drivers I know about are the ones on the phone.

Ok so I know that the above was kinda rambling so I'm gonna break it down into a nutshell here. Are there any drivers that need to be installed for fastboot and if so should it be on the phone? and if not then why does my phone keep getting stuck at fastboot?

oh, and merry christmas, happy new year, and good luck with the upcoming zombie apocalypse
