I have multiple contacts because of Back up Assistant...how can I get rid of the duplicates easily, and disable BUA

Ahhhh! I just enabled Backup Assistant and it also doubled all my contacts! I have Google contacts view selected but in the phone dialer I see all contacts, doubled.
How can I fix this? I regret signing into BUA.

Within the contact details it also doubled all the numbers and addresses. What a mess. :'(

Many people have problems syncing their contacts with either backup assistant or Google. I don't bother syncing, I just export to the SDcard when I make changes.
To disable backup assistant read post #20 in the following thread.

If you have a good copy of your contacts, you can download contact remover, remove almost all contacts (since it won't get rid of the contacts that GB comes with) and put the good copy back.
