Dictionary issues after last OS update

Ostro

Lurker
Hey all,
this problem has been posted a few times already but the last one was from March which I didn't want to revive.
When updating Android it seems the dictionary gets reset to default and there may be tricks to save it. But that's not my actual problem.
It is that my phone no longer learns my words. Before the update (now I am on v4.0.3) everything was fine and I could simply type fast. Now, even after weeks of usage, the dictionary seems to be still the same as right after the update. I have to type out most words because the suggestions are useless and they are not just shorter words but terrible suggestions. So it seems my phone no longer does some sort LFU or something to arrange the suggestions array.

Is there any trick or hint to enable this that I haven't found in the settings?
It really bugs me. I loved using my phone until the last update. Everything's awkward and non-smart now, the dictionary being the biggest issue.
Also, I could choose a primary language and a secondary language before, that option seems to be gone as well or hidden somewhere.

Hope someone can help or knows what's going on.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. :)

What type of device do you have? Also, try a factory reset and see if it resolves the issue. I read sometimes there might be bugs after an update and a hard reset can fix those bugs.
