Help Did factory reset on Incredible with no service! Help!

All-
I have an HTC Incredible and did a factory reset. And since I'm in a different country with my plan on hold, i can't get past the "Activation" on page 2 after rebooting my phone (hence I have absolutely no service) where it's trying to dial *228.

I haven't seen too many threads on my problem and would like to fix it asap!

Also, I would like to eventually root my phone as well. So if there's a shortcut to bypass the activation stage to go straight through to rooting that would work too.

Specs of my phone are below:
HTC Droid Incredible
S-ON
HBOOT-0.92.0000
Version 2.3.4

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!!

I finally figured out how to bypass the activation screen when no phone service is available.

1. Select emergency call and dial ##778.
2. Select edit and enter service password 000000.
3. Select NAM Settings.
4. Change Mobile Directory number to 0000000000 (Ten digits).
5. Change MIN1 to 0000000 (Seven digits).
6. Change Mobile Country Code to 000 (Three digits).
7. As you back out "Commit the Change".
8. The phone will auto reboot in 10 seconds.

I just did it by accident also. I was in the activation circle of hell, clicked to call *228, once the bot answered, I realized I wasn't following the directions above and clicked the back button...and it let me click next/skip until the activation process was over and now I'm at the home screen. :)

I tried that. It won't let me change the Mobile Directory Number! I looked in those other threads. Seems like a few other people were having that same problem.

Nothing else works: tapping 4 corners, resetting, dialing *228 & end ~8+ times. Also the Vol up, down stuff. 2 different methods! Nothing. Email sent to HTC. Hopefully they have some answers for me.

Any other ideas in the mean time??

Wow nothing?? Am i just screwed then? I would hate to have to wait another 8 months before using my phone. There HAS to be a way to get my phone to work.

ANY body know how to do this?!

This is probably too late to do you any good, but I just did the same thing and couldn't find any advice anywhere. So here's the answer I found through trial and error....mostly error.

When you get the screen activate phone, power off the device. Then press and hold the volume down key while at the same time powering the phone back up. You should get a little screen with about four options. One of them is to restore the phone. Use the down volume to move down the list, up volume to move up the list. When the one you want is selected, use the power button to select it.

I used restore and my device came back on. I have no service because the HTC Droid Incredible isn't (incredible that is) and they removed the ability for users to calibrate their touch screen. I bought a different phone and transferred service to it. Now I have everything back except phone service, and the screen problem did not resolve itself. Or else restore broke it again.
