Root Did I Flash ClockworkMod recovery right?

When I went to flash ClockworkMod recovery, it loads a little, and then says it was successful. when I reboot into recovery it just shows the recovery mode logo, but if I press the two volume buttons it shows three or four options to reboot, wipe data/cache, and apply update from sd card. When I backup current rom it just shuts off and goes to that same screen. What did I do wrong? Also When it asked what kind of phone I had i said Atrix 4G since Atrix 2 wasn't on there.

Not sure what you did or why. But what I did was installed the Atrix 2 bootstrap, which installs CWM recovery and does not ask you what phone you have. I have successfully created and restored backups using it with no problem at all. I suggest you do the same.
