Did I make the right decision from iphone? to s3?

The S3 is not an iPhone. It's fully customizable, if you are having trouble getting around that means you aren't using the home screens properly. Try to organize a little bit, I have the apps I use most often on my home screen, then I have a screen dedicated to music, one dedicated to games, etc.

I barely use any of the stock Samsung or Android apps. You can generally find better ones in the app stores.

My battery life is fantastic. It took a little research and tinkering but I've customized my battery usage to fit my needs and preferences. For instance, I don't need to get emails the minute they are sent to me so I have an app that turns off mobile data while my screen is off and it saves tons of battery.

I can't help you out with the ring volume.

But yeah if you don't want to be able to customize your phone and you want a really loud ringer for whatever reason then maybe an iPhone is best for you. My guess is that since you're still new to android you're just not sure how to make the most of it.

What switches off the mobile data while screen is off? Data takes up such a massive amount of battery

When I switched from iphone to android, it took a bit of getting used to. I also found that I the prefered the interface on some of the downloaded apps over the stock apps. Just experiment by downloading new apps for say the calendar or email, etc., if you aren't happy with the stock ones.

I've found a great way to get over the battery issue. Just go to Amazon and get a new battery and charger for the S3. Get ones made by Samsung as I haven't found any third party ones that work as well. Just carry an extra charged battery in your wallet or purse. If you are in a situation where your battery runs low, just swap out your battery for the fully charged one. So quick and simple and such ease of mind.

Once you get used to the S3 and the larger screen, you won't even consider going back to the iphone. Here are a few things I just won't give up:
1. Removeable battery
2. Ability to customize more
3. Larger screen size
4. Back button
5. SD card slot
6. Not having to use iTunes to sync files with my laptop. I can just drag and drop files (mostly my photos and videos) back and forth between my laptop and phone, placing them exactly where I want them. With apps like Kies air, I don't even have to use a cable connection.

No. Imho...the s3 is better. I've used the iphone 5 a bit am not impressed. Actually I have a new iPad as well and just find the s3 works better for most things and use it way more. Just my 2 cents.

Ditto- played with an iPhone 5 the other day in-store & thought, "hmmm- just like a 4s with another half-inch of screen". If you loved the 4s/4 but want a little more screen, I think it's the phone for you. It's got a slick UI on top of a good OS, but it's a one-trick pony. :)

After a short while things take longer on an iPhone (turning on wifi for example) than they do on Android. Once youve set the phone up how you like then everything is so much quicker.

Setting your ringtone is as simple as just choosing a song from your playlist. Nothing as complex as the hoops you have to jump through for Apple for maximum of 40 seconds.

One of the things that has blown my mind about this phone is being able to swap out modems so i can get far better signal and download speeds.

I came from an iPhone and regularly jailbroke it. Whenever i started adding tweaks and what not these always ruined the battery life whereas on Android some of the more 'complex' tweaks like swapping kernels or downloading a new ROM has had the opposite. Im running a ROM and can easily get 2 days use out of my phone with pretty regular use.

I've just moved from the S3 ro the Note 2 and I have to say I looked at an Iphone 5 in a shop and it was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. I'd be ashamed to get it out in front of friends.

I moved from HTC Hero, iphone 4, to a now a s3. I love the user friendliness of the ios and the look of the phone but Jelly Bean and all predecessors before it gives the ability to customize as well as the freedom to use a microsd card, and change out the battery on my own if I needed to. And I looooove widgets! No need to open an ap to look for a note. With iphones, I found it annoying to have to use their software to upload my photos and such and the hard drive space is limited. Also it takes either a lot of research and effort on your own to switch out your own battery (=voiding whatever warranty you have) or you need to take it to a pro to change out the battery/take apart your phone for whatever reason. I believe you made the right choice OP. Don't give up on it ;)
