Did Nougat really change that?

I have a Samsung S7 Edge which just got updated from Marshmallow to Nougat this morning. I had been having app issues with Marshmallow with some of my apps not working properly so I was hopeful that Nougat would solve those issues. It is too soon to know if it did, but it seems to have changed the functionality so that I can no longer listen to my Audio Books when the phone is on Do Not Disturb. This had not been an issue with Marshmallow and I had placed the phone on DND while my wife slept, so as to not wake her, and listened to a book, but now setting DND seems to turn off the volume for my (Audible) book player.

Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this isse? Short of that, is there any way to uninstall the update and return to Marshmallow? Of course I will contact Audible to see if they can fix this issue but that will probably take until the next OS update.

Since I don't do audio books (yet), I can't say whether or not this is an issue with the Android operating system. If your app didn't work with Marshmallow and still doesn't work with Nougat, my first suspicion would be that the app is outdated and the developer hasn't optimized it to run on the newer OSs. I don't know when you last received an update for that app - but you might want to contact the developer and inquire about this.
 
The app did work with Marshmallow. It only stopped working after I installed Nougat. It may well be that the app is not fully compatible with Nougat and that this needs to be addressed to the vendor, but it is not old and, in fact, updated only a week or so ago. Still, it may not be fully functional and I guess it would not hurt to contact the vendor.

I was just hoping for a solution earlier than a year from now ...
 
Unfortunately it is not possible to easily go back to Marshmellow. Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the app to see if that made any changes? You may also want to try clearing the cache partition and see if that helps at all. Aside from that the only options are to report it to Audible, or perform a factory reset to see if that resolves the issue. On some occasions part of the OS gets corrupted after an upgrade and apps misbehave. It's really about finding out if the issue is with N, or with the app.

On my HTC M9 (Android 7), full DND does kill media audio, but if I select Priority mode, media audio is still active and it can be set so that all other sound output is silenced. Is it not the same on the S7?

I am relatively new to Android so I did not know anything about Priority Mode. Thank you for the suggestion. It seems to have solved the problem and I can now listen to my audio books while the phone is silenced.

Again, thank you for your help.
