Did the first delay cause the second?

So we've gone from the nexus coming "sooner than we think" as of 1 month ago to maybe it'll be here before the end of November. Before the announcement the buzz was first week of November possibly even end of October. Ever since the announcement all we've heard is sometime in November and always with a very unsure tone as if the PR people are hedging.

I'm just wondering if the delay in the announcement due to Steve Jobs death which then meant that it wasn't announced at CTIA in the USA, maybe Verizon was annoyed by this and flat out told Google we're gonna bump Nexus from early November and concentrate on the Razr and Rezound.

At the time I remember thinking I care less about when the announcement comes as long as they release it. Now I'm honestly wondering if the two delays are related.

I highly doubt that is the case a few weeks wouldn't make that much difference with verizon. I mean they did agree to sell the phone and were going to be the exclusive us carrier for a certain amount of time. The other phones were going to come out and I think the reason and the testers are saying they are having some issues they want to get ironed out rather than rush the product out. nothing worse than rushing a product because forum members are upset and then deal with the backlash from it having issues. It will come, relax.

I agree with RedRaider, i think they are related, but due to kinks in the pre-release build. Although a good PR move, i highly doubt the real reason for the first delay was Steve Jobs' death- I would wager anything that an engineer or team asked for an extension and PR was like: "on it! ... "

I think after the 4s announcement google saw they didn't have to rush ics and had time to work it out and that was the reason for the delay. They figured they could go back and iron out the kinks and get it ready for prime time rather than rush out a half baked build just to combat the iphone.

What struck me was a report of a CTIA representative stating to the effect "the canceled Verizon event" when discussing Samsung/Google's change of plans for big launch in San Diego.

Whether or not that reporting was accurate, and/or wasn't just a misstatement by the rep, I don't know... but in retrospect, I was taken aback by the international appeal of the Galaxy Nexus after the Hong Kong unveiling and the event in the UK.

So perhaps the move to HK was a power play by Google as a reminder that "Hey, this is a lot more than just a U.S. 'Verizon Phone' -- it's a whole lot bigger than you!" Especially if VZW was busy shuffling the deck with respect to positioning their big three holiday devices.

Pure speculation on my part, obviously, but something I've been pondering.
