Did yesterday's Google Maps update affect Waze?

I updated Maps last night and,this morning, Waze only gave turn info...no street/route names. E.g., "turn left in 1 mile" instead of "turn left onto route 38 north in 1 mile". Also, the voice (Samantha) has gotten rougher. Was this due to the Maps update? I don't think Waze updated yesterday.
 
It would be unusual for one app update to affect another. I normally have the sound off in Waze. Next time I use Waze, I'll try it with the sound on and see.
 
If indeed Waze no longer functions like it used to (with the new Maps update) then this is what some expected. I have not updated Maps. I like the 6.14.3 version better.
 
Also, I wonder if, now that Maps is using but not adding to Waze's traffic info, some will switch to Maps when traveling (it seems that Android software prefers to use Maps). If so, the less traffic analytics will be gathered and both Waze and Maps will lose this great asset.
 
Same exact thing happened to me too. I rebooted my phone and restarted Waze, then re-selected Samantha voice. Fixed. Very strange indeed.

And, lately, Waze has not been shutting down properly. After selecting shut down, the map goes black but the app is still open.
