Did you buy your Galaxy 4 or 5 primarily to use as an MP3 player or as a web browser?

Oh, I never planned on keeping both. But since BB extends their return period till Jan 24 for all Dec. purchases, I figured I would see which I like better and return the other.

At this point I'm probably going to keep the tablet and return the player.

my phone is AT&T and Lars year I did consider the Note for about half a minute but that would mean giving up my iPhone upgrade and I just couldn't bring myself to do that.

In spite of it's negatives, I must say that as far as being a reliable phone, I have zero problems with the iPhone. Since my cell is my only phone, that's important to me.

And anyhow, this way I have the best of both worlds :)

Sorry if you've seen a similar post but I had no replies.

I am planning to buy the Samsung S 4.2 wifi, the European equivalent of the SGP 4.2. I see many of you have no problems with playing videos.

How does the SGP 4.2 perform with streaming Flash videos (not Youtube), provided you have a decent broadband connection? Thanks

Hi I have the s 4.2 and it does not support flash however you can download a copy and install it I have not as yet done so but will do shortly so l will let you know how it performs.
Update....just updated to flash 11 and every thing works fine great quality image with no stuttering I have 20 meg connection.

my 5.0 is now also my car sat nav system using navfree. It works without wifi as it has the whole uk saved in one 400mb file rather than tiny chunks with google maps saved manually.

love this thing, tempted to get a spare onr if it dies and can't get anything else to replace it.

oh, mine came with flash player app as standard

Thanks Jonrud. I believe the s 4.2 wi-fi has the same processor as the 4.2 player and should come with Flash preinstalled, so I'm going to give it a try.

The fact that you have upgraded means you had it already. How did you upgrade if it's not too much asking?

Thank you (going to fire my order on Amazon UK soon!).

I bought my Galaxy 4.2 Player primarily as an MP3 player but it's also served as a kind of "training tablet" for me. I did buy a Samsung Galaxy 7" tablet a few months prior to buying the 4.2, but I didn't really know what I wanted it for and I had problems figuring out how to connect to Wi-Fi, so I returned it. Still had the same problems with Wi-Fi at the beginning with my 4.2, but my attitude was that since I had bought it strictly as an MP3 player, anything else was a bonus.

Hi sorry for delay in answering been away. If I remember correctly all I did was try to play a video online which said I did not have the correct version of flash installed and there was an option to upgrade to the correct version which I did and all worked well.

Thanks, I've just bought my 4.2 uk version. The first thing I did was try to play some flash stream but the browser crashed all the time. I went to the Adobe flash test page but it wouldn't let me update to the latest version as my device was allegedly "incompatible".

So I manually downloaded the latest v 11 for pre-ICS and installed it and now this small tablet works like a charm. I've enabled plugin on demand and makes the browser much faster.

Browsing quality is very good, provided you have a decent wifi connection.

I've installed the latest Firefox but it was rubbish so I've removed it.

I had the same problem with my galaxy note 10.1 and had to install manually, I have my 4.2 connected via bluetooth to a set of powered speakers at that works great good sound and volume and with a 32gb card loads of music stored. I have tried the browers upgrade but have always gone back to default one

Ever since I got the Note 2 I find myself using stock apps more as well. Other phones it was nothing to download a "better" app.
If I had kept my SGP5 or Tab 2 7" I would've ended up giving them away.

I have now disabled Flash altogether (Settings > Plugins > Off) and my life quality has improved by far. I didn't realize how many sites offer alternative content which is not available to desktops PCs.

SGP 5.0 is mediocre web browser. Prefer to do surfing on laptop just due to screen size. I used it mostly to check all email accts, some FB & also as wifi phone now that apps are out from Voip providers & google voice.
