Did you get the Galaxy Ace update yet?

Well, here's the thread with the links, and keep in mind that this is NOT the official update, just the leaked ROM:

Flashing Instructions:

Same in Estonia, no update, but current version is different: KA9/KA6/KA5...
Why the hell they can not give update to all!

hey there.

i just realised there's a facebook page for malaysian users. registered myself there, took part in some simple games and got a free galaxy ace pouch, not any generic brand but samsung's.. **yeaaaay**

and since i'm there, well, what the heck might as well ask them about the gingerbread update.

and here's their answer in its all entirety (well, i've blanked out my name yaa..)

"Hi ***, there will be an upgrade but the schedule is not confirmed. We are expecting it in the coming months."

well, there u have it. it looks like (for Malaysian users) there's gonna be an update coming soon...

They never said the Gingerbread update would be in may for the Ace. The said they would start the 2.3 rollout for the Galaxy range by end of may. This actually was happening (Galaxy S users for example) and there have been some getting the ace update (read this forum). It is in the pipeline but will be a while yet!:(

theres already a reply in the thread somwhere . someone got a email from 3, saying they dont have the update yet and are still working with samsung to get it ....... but its not gonna happen for a while i dont think

and tbh , whats it bringing? some people say it fixes the sod.. sum say it doesnt, some say its faster menu browsing, most say its un-noticable. froyo works it does what i need it to, gingerbread doesnt seem to add any special features.

like i said before i got the cyanogenmod 7 built on gingerbread loaded to my htc hero gsm....the biggest diffrence? when you move the phone the home screen changes rotation........ooooooo

Twas me who got the email. They even called me about it! here is the lowdown:-

It is coming. Its not ready. It wont be major update (like Froyo 2.1). Be patient.

That is all!!

Q:

No update in Eastern Europe as well. I just checked thinking that surely after a month has passed since May, It will definitely be available....yeah.

Q: Do all carriers have to make a special edition of the update or this is just in some countries?

That point is moot, since Nokia also keeps people hanging for updates, and FYI, nokia promised its Anna update to S^3 users months ago and has been unable to deliver it to them till now.. I have used Nokia all my life too, but the thing is that Android OS is much more complicated than S^3, so it takes time, keep your patience, and if you want to get early unofficial updates, there's plenty of threads on XDA with custom ROMs you can try.
