Root Difference between Cyanogen mods???

Can someone explain to me what the difference is between CyanogenMod's Stable Mod, Experimental Mod, and Nightly builds? I am wanting to flash Cyanogenmod because I have heard good things about it but there seem to be many options and I am confused.

the nightly builds are compiled by the build bot. The make subtle changes to the way the rom works and bug fixes stuff like that. The release candidates are supposed to be of the quality that they could become a stable rom. Currently i wouldnt even bother with RC1 or RC2. I have been flashing the nightlies for awhile now, and the problems are so minuscule that cm7, exclusively the nightlies has been my daily driver almost since they came out. Definitely worth checking out, just nandroid and do a full wipe before flashing and you will be fine.

So CM6.1 and the nightly mods are only slightly different? Which should I use and will I even notice a difference between CM6.1 and any of the nightly builds?

The current nightlies are cm7(gingerbread/2.3). CM6.1 is froyo/2.2. So yes you would notice a difference. There is a cm7 rc2 and cm7 rc1 though.

RC= Release Candidate ( 1 is the first version for potential release as "stable mod",2 is second version)

nightlys, are,as noted above, released daily with minor fixes. RC2 will be the same as one of the nightlys(i dont know wich one) so as the nightlies progress, they add fixes to the release candiate, until they think its fixed enuff for one to be aother release candidate.

in other words, most recent nightly is newer than RC2,wich is newer than RC1.

if you want to try cm7,start at the most recent nightly,IMO :)

Great. That makes perfect sense. I am going to get the most recent nightly. It sounds great. Thanks for your assistance.
