Differences Between Versions Of Android

Lets start simple

Had a Psion Revo and Mobile!
Then a Sony P800
Then a Sony P900
Then though varous S60v3 phones until a Nokia 6220
Time for an upgrade?

Like the look of the Sony X10 mini but ver 1.6
New HTC Wildfire looks good and has ver 2.1 I think!

So basically would like to know the differance/updates between version of Android?
Is there an update guide?
Is there a guide which explains which phones can be updated to what version?

Your answers woould help me make my mind up about which phone etc.

No phone officially has FroYo. There is a version available for the N1 that has been ported to several other devices but this is more of a beta version (something like that, it was leaked to people who had review models of N1). N1 will be the first to get the official production version and HTC phones are expected to get it either late June or "sometime in the second half of 2010." Droid is expected to get it soon as well.
